All finalists were presented with a $1,000 check for themselves, while teachers who placed received $1,000 toward their schools, counselors received $1,500 for their schools, and principals received $2,500 for their schools.

The H-E-B Excellence in Education Awards highlight educators who go above and beyond throughout the Lone Star state.

H-E-B’s Excellence in Education is the largest monetary awards program for educators in Texas and is among the largest in the nation. The honor was kept a surprise from the educators, who this week learned they were finalists when H-E-B representatives visited their classrooms and schools.

A second-grade teacher from San Angelo ISD’s Glenmore Elementary was recently named a finalist for H-E-B’s Excellence in Education Teacher Award.
